Konai Helu Thaman is a poet from Tonga whose poems have touched people all over the world. One of her memorable poems, ‘You, The Choice of My Parents’, is an exploration of a woman undergoing an arranged marriage with a man chosen by her parents. Her thoughts and reflections are laid bare on a traditional Tongan cloth called ‘Ngatu’, with each chapter of her life shown through a new sheet of Ngatu.
