The space between Mickey's Chrismas Carol and The Prince and the Pauper is not as big as the first one and The Simple Things, but 7 years is still something. Another book adaptation and this time by Mark Twain. This short is in the same vein as its predecessor, but with fewer cameos. Twain's fairy tale still feels fresh after all these years and he plays the dual role of Mickey a lot better than the personalityless mouse he had become in the early 1950s. It is also striking here that the power lies mainly in the interaction between Donald, Goofy and Mickey.
