The Breadwinner plot

The story is set in Afghanistan and focuses on the hard life under the yoke of the Taliban movement. The twelve-year-old girl Parvana is central. When her father, an intellectual and the family's sole breadwinner, is wrongfully imprisoned, she has to dress up as a boy to take care of her mother and the other children. She and her friend Shauzia risk everything to find out if her father is still alive.
