The 24 Hours of Le Mans, 1955. Three hundred thousand spectators watch as Pierre Levegh’s car crashes into the packed grandstand at 18:00, raining the heated remains of the vehicle down on the crowd; a tragedy that costs more than 80 lives. Nevertheless, the race goes on. At Mercedes, a teammate of Levegh’s is ready to take over. His name is John Fitch.
