Hi no Yôjin plot
It is the eighteenth century. In the city of Edo live the families of Owaka and Matsukichi, who have been friends since childhood. They are increasingly attracted to each other. Then Matsukichi is rejected by his family. He decides to work for the city fire brigade. Meanwhile, Owaka's family, one of the wealthy merchants, tries to arrange her marriage. However, Owaka continues to think of Matsukichi; so much so that her feelings set off a conflagration.
