Flushed Away plot

"Someone's Going Down"

The rat Roddy lives in a safe cage in the expensive London area, until the day he is flushed down the toilet by a burglar. He ends up in an underground world through the sewers and wants to return home as soon as possible. He gets help from Rita, whom he has promised to pay generously if she manages to get him back home. However, this seems easier said than done when it turns out that the evil Toad is after the pair.

Again the 3rd movie from 2006 and also the 3rd movie from Dreamworks that I set up.

This time they join forces with Aardman who always delivers gems.

Also this beautifully made rollercoaster with Wolverine, Gandalf, Smeagol, Léon and Davy Jones as voice cast. 7.5/10

Laughed a lot.

It's a pity that the animation itself is really ugly, clearly, a little too clear from the computer. I happened to see Chicken Run today and despite the limited animation there I also learned that the production of this film is focused on clay and then it's not surprising that the first animation from the computer isn't too nice.

The second downside is that the characters, except for the over-the-top villains, are also quite boring. The role of Winslet always returns in these kinds of films and that regularly clashes with the corny plot itself, and the role of Jackman is also a bit standard actually.

But that's the most said. I'm ashamed to say so, but I haven't laughed so hard at a movie in ages like I did here. Humor is extremely childish, but so much fun. It's been a while since I saw a really nice slapstick that doesn't take itself too seriously (I can't understand why some characters are so boring).

The story is fun, doesn't last too long and never gets boring. The jokes don't make sense, but they strike the right chord and the dry moments (final kick, blow or other things to come) always made me laugh.

So stupid humor, children will be very happy with this, but adults will also have fun with this. I certainly did, thought it was really great, I haven't been able to laugh so much at a movie in ages. So you see that slapstick humor is actually my favorite humor. And that works very well here.

Still just as fun as the first time, years ago. I've never been a fan of Aardman's animation, I'm not really into stop-motion anyway. I see the fact that this film consists entirely of CGI as a plus. Character design is recognizable, but generally boring. The frogs were the most successful.

What makes this animated comedy so good is the humor. The jokes are for young and old, from puns to slapstick. Flushed Away is packed with crazy characters who will get the laughs on their hand, especially in terms of behavior. The snails are adorable when they're at their scariest, the frogs are hilarious with the mime in the lead and Spike and Whitey play the typical henchmen with a British accent.

The film has a good pace with smooth music tracks and lots of action. In addition, I think the master plan of the Toad is quite creative: a city that has to be washed away because the whole of England flushes at the same time during the half-time of a football match. Still good to enjoy!
