Mary O'Hara is a sharp-witted and mischievous 12-year-old schoolgirl from Dublin who bravely faces the fact that her beloved grandmother is dying. But grandma can't let go of life, and when a mysterious young woman shows up on Mary's street with a message for her grandma, Mary is caught up in an unlikely adventure. The woman is the ghost of grandmother's own mother, who comes to help her daughter say goodbye to her loved ones and guide her safely out of this world. She needs the help of Mary and her mother, Scarlett, as they embark on a road trip to the past.
