This science fiction film starts quite intriguing, but soon the plot gets stuck in predictable and especially annoying situations. Beautiful production design and first-class special effects, but the characters are very flat and the script lacks interesting angles. Lord Of The Flies... in space.

Reasonable film about a decades-long space journey with specially manufactured people as a crew. An interesting social experiment as a starting point with an excellent structure. The course of the second half, however, is quite predictable and has all been seen before. It doesn't get annoying and the whole decoration looks sleek and stylish.

Since almost all actors are young, you could classify this as young adult fiction. Colin Farrell is the exception, but he dies before the halfway point. Lily-Rose Depp is a discovery. She looks more like her mother than her father.

It has a dystopian edge, because the young space travelers have no freedom. Yet there is also something hopeful in them, because they form the link with a generation that will populate another planet when the earth becomes uninhabitable. In a distant future this is not unthinkable, but 2063 is very soon.

The scientific perspective is limited. It is mainly an exciting adventure around a mutiny on board. Of course there is also a romantic storyline, with intimacies that may or may not be desired.

References to 2001: A Space Odyssey are the music of Strauss and the white, futuristic interior. A few tracking shots zoom through the corridors. The result is entertaining, but especially suitable for a young audience.
