Treasure of the Golden Condor plot

Frenchman Jean-Paul revolts against the oppression of his uncle, the Marquis of St Malo. He sets out with the gentle MacDougal and his daughter Clara to the remote Mayan hills of Guatemala in search of a hidden treasure. There, Jean-Paul also falls in love with Clara. Then Jean-Paul leaves Clara and returns to France, because as the rightful heir to the Marquis of St. Malo, he wants to claim his inheritance. Clara waits for Jean-Paul in Guatemala and wonders if he will ever come back.
