That Lady plot
Ana de Mendozade, the princess of Eboli, wears a black cloth over her right eye. Ana was blinded at a young age during a duel because of the defense of her king, the despotic prince Philip II of Spain. After that Ana and Philip became good friends, but his passion for Ana was never reciprocated. Ana married one of Philip's ministers. They had a son, but soon Ana became a widow. Now Philip asks her to help him train Antonio Perez for the office of First Secretary of the Crown. However, the training turns out differently than Philip had hoped, when it turns out that Ana and Antonio are in love. This love causes a scandal in the court, which has always been the scene of never-ending intrigue. Philip then has Antonio charged for murder and arrest. When Ana refuses to leave Madrid, she is also arrested and placed under house arrest.
