"Lying with faith is not always a sin."
The cheerful João Grilo and the cunning Chicó try to brighten up their shabby existence in a Brazilian provincial town with their jokes and pranks, taking the rich and powerful over and over again. But when a band of bandits wreaks havoc on the city, their song is over too. Fortunately, they also know how to trick the Devil, the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ when preparing for the afterlife.
