Macao oder Die Rückseite des Meeres plot

Max and Chrige are a married couple, she earns a living by yodeling and he is a dialect researcher. When Max has to go to Sweden for a lecture, his plane crashes into the Baltic Sea. Although he barely manages to save himself, he ends up on a Chinese island to his own surprise. Not shortly afterwards, the pilot of the crashed aircraft also reports to him on the beach. Together they come to the conclusion that they have crashed horizontally rather than vertically and have ended up in another dimension. They immediately go to investigate in the New World.
