In the Name of Love plot

The young Frenchman Raoul Melnotte leaves his childhood sweetheart Marie behind and goes to America to make his fortune. Marie promises to wait for him. Ten years later he returns to France, his fortune not yet made. Marie, however, has become rich and snobbish. Multitudes of men have made love to her, but her heart is set on a meeting with a prince of Como, who is visiting France and wants nothing to do with Raoul.
