"Man Against Beast! Woman Against Man!"
Harry Black, is a one-legged hunter, who is hunting in the jungles of India for a fearsome Bengal tiger, a real man-eater. During this hunt, Harry meets Desmond Tanner, owner of a tea plantation. Desmond is the coward responsible for the loss of his leg during their stay in a prisoner of war camp in Nazi Germany. Together they manage to capture the tiger, but Desmond's cowardly behavior allows the tiger to escape, nearly mauling Black. Christian, Desmond's wife, tends to Harry's wounds. Harry falls in love with Christian and starts drinking heavily. Harry only stops when he learns that Michael, the son of the Tanners, is missing in the jungle. Harry realizes that in the search for Michael, a confrontation with the escaped tiger is almost inevitable.
