The film describes the adventures of little Marco, who secretly departs on a steamboat from Genoa to Argentina. He is looking for his mother, from whom he has not heard any news in a long time. The brave lad faces great difficulties, gets some help from a kind and generous person, but has bad luck in his quest that seems fruitless. Yet he does not give up.
