Tracers

A somewhat dull and even boring action film. Lots of jumping, shooting and swearing, but it all feels very hollow. A solid or logical story is missing and the actors are abominable. Lautner has to be the dullest actor I've seen lately. His Twilight friends Patterson and especially Stewart do better. There is exactly one strong action scene in it and that is it. Visually it is also nice. But otherwise, Tracers is predictable and uninspired nonsense.

Reasonable action film that is only entertaining but doesn't offer much around it. Misses some moments here and there and contains hardly any highlights. Take the popular lead actor Taylor Lautner, who probably needs to attract a certain audience. But not really able to play a good role here. Can be condoned as an entertaining Sunday afternoon film.

2.5*

Mme.

Tracers is such a cash-in movie for Lautner, but it looks like the best boy isn't getting many roles in Hollywoodland anymore. Not surprising either, because he didn't have a lot of acting talent, he mainly looked good and toned. Unfortunately for him, the Twilight times are kind of over.

Lautner does well here, but plays very safe. This is exactly one role in his list, but neither Lautner and Benmayor do much with it. All the characters are pretty standard and familiar, so the heroes, the love interests, and the villains are back. They all pass by and they all do nothing innovative.

Tracers feels like a kind of teen action movie, but it's filmed a bit too raw to really be complete. A bit like Step Up, but then just a little more adult and a different genre. That rawness does work, by the way, because the action scenes feel quite realistic that, together with a piece of clever camera work, form a good duo.

Too bad the story itself is very messy. Lautner, for example, is almost a pro in parkour within 5 minutes and it all feels rushed and rushed. That is clever with such a useless story, because it seems very difficult not to tell or elaborate this. In any case, the crew didn't seem to enjoy it much.

The film is not long but it all feels long. The first part does not want to be very interesting outside of a number of nice action scenes and there is nowhere really a good pace. The fact that it's all very predictable doesn't make it any better, and so Tracers doesn't really add anything to the film world. Extra points for the action scenes that are shot pretty well. The rest don't really cooperate.
