The Mighty plot
During World War I, a mobster enlists in the army and is subsequently promoted to major. After returning from war-torn Europe, he sets out to find the family of a soldier who died in his arms on the battlefield. The major falls in love with the deceased soldier's sister and decides to accept a job in town as the new police commissioner.
