"When you're seventeen, people think they can do anything to you. Billie Jean is about to prove them wrong."
17-year-old Texas teen Billie Jean Davy is seeking justice. Some local boys have damaged her brother's scooter and when she goes to ask for compensation from the father of one of the boys, she refuses to pay it. Soon, Billie Jean and her struggles become a legend, even as she's hot on the heels of the local authorities.

Amusing action comedy that gradually loses steam. It seems that the ideas ran out a bit towards the end. But overall a pretty funny film.

Reasonable film in which a brother and sister flee after a shooting incident. The story develops in principle quite entertaining, but it could have been a bit sharper. Not exactly credible, especially how everything is blown out of proportion. A nice soundtrack and for Christian Slater this meant his film debut. A narrow 3.0 stars.

I had never seen this teenage film before. It completely breathes the atmosphere of those years. The beautiful blonde Billie Jean Davy becomes a hype after she demands justice for the destruction of her younger brother's scooter. She gets into a fight with the father of the bully (who also tries to molest her) and has to flee after a shooting incident. . The whole case is blown up into a police manhunt and Billie Jean becomes a symbol of rebellion among the youth. She even gets a special haircut for the occasion, inspired by Renée Falconetti in La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc (1928) 
. The soundtrack is provided by Pat Benatar.
No more than an OK film, with some striking roles by actors from this period but it all becomes very exaggerated towards the end. The film was a commercial flop, was never released in the Benelux (not even in the video store) but has a cult status in the meantime.
