Nice action movie that kept me entertained. Story is sometimes a bit messy but because of the high tempo and the action I was not bored .

Come on, this one wasn't that bad, was it? I had a great time with this Netflix blockbuster.

However, a few things stand out: The colored main characters were clearly a conscious choice. Over the years you saw mainly white American heroes in these kinds of films. The acting also seems to be stronger and patriotism has certainly given way to a message.

Furthermore, the film is set in 2036, but it still looks remarkably like a science fiction film made around the turn of the century; given the technology.

But for the rest this was a great place to stay and a fine directing work by the Swedish Hafström. We follow a mercenary Leo who has disobeyed an order and is responsible for the deaths of two young soldiers. Instead of incarceration, he is moved to Ukraine to be coached by Harp. Harp soon seems to be an artificial development in a human body. It is also immediately surprising that he comes across as quite sympathetic; given Leo's fault. Leo is taken by him to war zones in this Eastern European country. What are we going to get then?

Simple: a succession of fat bangs and explosions, fat shootouts and with Gumps as the icing on the cake. The futuristic world is beautifully constructed, despite it not seeming to be of this time anymore. Especially the refugee camp, that orphanage and the war zones in the cities are nice finds... but really many millions have not been invested in it.

And the ending made sense in the end.

Nevertheless, this was a very entertaining futuristic war film that seems to mock American patriotism rather than glorify it. There should be many, many more such films.

Visually, the action looked good. The robots also came across well. Idea of movie ok. But beyond this, I don't lose much good. Film didn't take me with me and was too long. Should take the typical 1h40. This is good for a popcorn action weeknight movie, but not a Hollywood blockbuster... Typical Netflix action B movie.
