"They rose from the streets of Bombay to rule Mumbai."
Amartya Rao lives a simple life with his father and younger brother Arjun. He gets into trouble with men from Gaitonde who extort money from poor fruit and vegetable sellers. Amartya is put in jail where Gaitonde plans to kill him, but he overcomes everyone and finds a lifelong friend in Nari Khan, a smuggler. Bhau, a powerful politician, pays the bail for Amartya and asks him to work for him. Soon Amartya forms his own gang and is feared by everyone.
