"Punish the wicked, but stay in the dark."
During the Edo period in Japan there was a secret unit called "shadows"; these are killers. They were once death row criminals who now act on behalf of the government. In exchange for their lives, their vocal cords were disabled. Yasuke is also one of them. He is sent on a mission to kill Denzo, a local mobster boss. While infiltrating, he discovers that his own daughter is an accomplice of Denzo. Raised as a murderer by Denzo, Ocho hates her father for leaving her and her mother years ago.
