Reminded me of some other films, for some reason Jing Wong's first, and also some Peking Opera Blues. Must have something to do with the setting and the misunderstandings.

In any case, Chan does it well, but is also assisted by a nice cast. Especially the addition of Ng is very good. I also usually like Chan's second hand in supporting roles. I usually can't stand the whole misunderstanding thing, although I think it's still pretty good here.

The martial arts is fairly limited, although the final battle is an immediate hit. Beautifully orchestrated, camera work is perfect and well thought out. One of those could have been in there halfway through the movie.

In any case, more than sufficient, smooth and fun film, although it all takes a little too long. Strange, by the way, that the film already has so many voices, came out very accidentally and had never heard of it before.

Chan as a 1950s gangster, who, in addition to being the protagonist, was also the writer and director of this work.

The sets and costumes looked great. Unfortunately, the acting isn't always that good. For example, I thought that woman's daughter was very exaggerated, but maybe that was the intention.

The fight scenes looked great and could have been a bit more as far as I'm concerned. Especially because part of the story (the whole mother-daughter soap opera) didn't interest me much. Partly because of this, I also found the last half of the film a bit long-winded and the film could have been shorter by 20/30 minutes.

A film with its positive and negative sides, but good enough for 3* in my opinion.

Jackie Chan once called this his own favorite movie. He will probably have enjoyed this the most as a director. And the chance to smuggle some Hollywood love into his own movies. But whether it is also the best Jackie Chan film for viewers is still the question.

For me a somewhat forgotten film. If you count his voice roles, this is his 62nd film for me. Came across the DVD quite by accident. And also after the film I have to say that he has already made better films. The story is not that special. I even lost attention at times. Fortunately, the fights are good, although it takes a while before they are discussed. But it's worth it here and there. And especially the finale is again a bull's eye. That choreography remains his strongest point. Although I also like to see him as a comedic actor at work.
