Contraataque plot
During a shopping trip to the U.S.-Mexico border, a group of five friends are hunted down by a sicario hit squad. Little do they know that these five friends are members of the "murciélagos", Mexico's elite military special forces. The prospects for the sicario are not looking good.

Mediocre action film. The story is simple but that is allowed in this genre. The execution is fairly average without surprises. The pace is good and as an action lover you do not have to get bored except for a few pauses. It is almost continuous action. The action scenes look professional but are otherwise not very special. The acting is passable. Visually otherwise fine. 3.0

Mediocre Mexican actioner that seems to have come straight out of the 80s, including a Jean-Claude Van Damme lookalike in the lead role. The high tempo kept me from getting bored, but the plot and characters are negligible, as are the uninventively shot action scenes. Of which there are more than enough, by the way.

Short action drama in which characters tell each other their tragic life stories, while being shot at with 30 different weapons. The script of Contraataque hangs together very loosely with these kinds of nonsensical moments and the acting is nothing to write home about, but director Chava Cartas fortunately does create a number of fast-paced bullet fights. However, these are also too far apart within a short duration, but the finale is quite grand and goes on for a nice long time. However, that does not make for a much more interesting first hour, in between which there are quite a few dead moments.
