It is 1812 and France and England are engaged in a war that is mainly fought at sea. When Captain Dorman of the American freighter 'The Olive Branch' is killed during a naval battle with the English, his daughter Corunna, along with the charismatic First Mate Dan Marvin, takes command. During his crossing with an important cargo from France to America, 'The Olive Branch' is attacked several times by the English on the way. Life aboard becomes even more difficult for Corunna when the ruthless crew member Lehrman Slade wants to take over the ship and her, because he is in love with her.
