The organized battles only end when one of the gladiators dies. The evil organizer of all this (Samuel L. Jackson) ensures that the fights can be followed via the internet. Fighting paint.

A very standard and cheap-looking work with veteran Jackson, who is the only one who manages to provide some glittering entertainment on autopilot. The rest of the cast disappoints and the many fight scenes do not come out well. The most failed part of this 13-in-1-dozen work is the laughable course of the otherwise predictable story.

Average.

Mediocre.

Just looking at the poster I think many viewers can guess where this film will go. You're probably not far from it either. I only watched Arena because I felt like watching a nice simple action movie in which 1-on-1 fights are central. Unfortunately, a lot of nonsense has to be made up around this.

Arena is characterized by fairly impressive filters and sometimes beautifully designed action scenes. Unfortunately, the same scenes are often rather weak in content. Jonah Loop has not exactly kept up with the times as a director and therefore decides to let more than half of the action take place in slow motion. It often doesn't look right either. The fights don't impress and the actors feel limp.

Acting isn't great either. Jackson certainly isn't doing himself any credit by appearing in these kinds of movies. Lutz is otherwise almost invisible as an action hero and the role of Winter adds very little. The scriptwriter certainly didn't impress either. Logic is lacking on all sides, as many teenagers with the same group watch the fights online over and over again despite the obvious protests of some of them.

A simple film that here and there can rely on an impressive look and fairly brutal violence. The blood may not flow profusely, but when it has to, there is plenty. In any case, it splashes in many directions, just like that limbs are sometimes torn off in grotesque manner. Furthermore, it is rather a rather tame event with little kick and tough actions. Too bad, because the concept is interesting.
