Warner Bros. reportedly does NOT have plans to make a third Wonder Woman movie despite recent comments from Gal Gadot.
After Wonder Woman 3 was initially shelved, star Gal Gadot tweeted: "A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I've been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I'm grateful for YOU. The fans. Can't wait to share her next chapter with you."
Sometime later, she would give a couple of interviews which apparently confirmed Wonder Woman 3 was in the works after meeting with executives Peter Safran and James Gunn.
To ComicBook.com, she said: I love portraying Wonder Woman It's so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we're gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together."
In a profile with Flaunt magazine, she said: “I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”
The Israeli actress has portrayed Diana Prince in numerous DC movies including two Wonder Woman features. She recently made an uncredited cameo appearance in The Flash, though the scene was cut.
Something was apparently lost in translation in those meeting, as Variety is now reporting that Warner Bros. and DC Studious currently have no immediate plans to make Wonder Woman 3.
When Gunn and Safran were appointed in new executive roles with Warner Bros., the DC Extended Universe and other standalone films were sent into uncertainty.
Gunn would subsequently reveal a 10-year plan for the studio with regards to comic book adaptations, with Superman: Legacy being the headliner.
Variety reports that the studio still plans on doing a prequel series within the Wonder Woman universe titled Paradise Lost.
Gadot was not promised a third Wonder Woman movie in her meetings with Gunn and Safran.
