Away from the limelight, Will Smith is planning his major Hollywood comeback.
The actor made headlines around the world earlier this year when he stepped onto the stage at the Academy Awards and struck Chris Rock across the face after the comedian made comments referring to Jada Pinkett-Smith's alopecia.
Smith would go on to win the Academy Award for Best Actor on the night for his performance in King Richard, but he subsequently received a 10-year ceremony ban from event organisers.
After the dust had settled a few months later, he would release an apology video that received a mixed reaction from fans.
The first question, read out by Smith, asks "why didn't you apologise to Chris Rock in your acceptance speech?"
He responds: “I was fogged out by that point. It's all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is he’s not ready to talk, and when he is, he will reach out. I will say to you, Chris, I apologise to you, my behaviour was unacceptable and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk."
Rock brushed off the attempted apology by saying that Smith was attempting to play the victim.
Smith to star in Brilliance?
As well as a reported sequel to I am Legend, Smith is widely expected to star in Brilliance, an adaptation of the novel series of the same name by Marcus Sakey.
Brilliance tells the story of a world where 1% of the population are born with extraordinary cognative skills. These people are referred to as 'Brilliants' and they can use their powers either for good or evil.
David Koepp wrote the intial draft of the adaptation, but Akiva Goldsman has taken on writing duties now, and he will produce the movie alongside Smith.
The Oscar winner hasn't been confirmed as playing the main character Nick Cooper as of yet, but Brilliance is believed to be a passion project for Smith so it is likely we will see him in front of the cameras.
There is a director on board now, too, as Ms Marvel's Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be in charge of the project.
