Legendary A Nightmare On Elm Street actor Robert Englund believes he has the perfect choice for the next man to play Freddy Krueger.
Englund first played Krueger in 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street and went on to reprise the role on no less than seven occasions.
A reboot of the franchise was made in 2010 with Jackie Earle Haley playing the role of Krueger, but the movie received negative reviews compared to the original A Nightmare on Elm Street.
There has been ongoing discussions about how the franchise could continue either in the cinema or on television, and Englund reckons Kevin Bacon would be a fantastic choice to play Freddy.
“He’s in one of my favourite little horror movies, Stir of Echoes, and you should check it out if you haven’t seen it,” he previously told CinemaBlend.
“And I just think Kevin’s the right size. I think he respects horror movies. He doesn’t make fun of them. I think it would be real interesting.”
Bacon was previously part of another horror franchise, as he played one of the camp dwellers to perish in the original Friday 13th.
Would Bacon play Freddy Krueger?
Now, Bacon has responded to the recommendation from Englund, and it seems it could actually happen.
“Never say never,” he said in a conversation with ScreenRant.
“I mean, I say, ‘Never say never,’ but I really do follow that.
"There are very few things that I go, ‘Nah, nah.’
"You just never know.”
