One of the most anticipated movies of 2024 is Furiosa, directed by George Miller.
The action epic will star Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character, who was portrayed by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Furiosa will act as a prequel to Fury Road and will tell the story of how the character made her way into the clutches of the villain of the first movie, Immortan Joe.
The official synopsis reads:
"As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."
The movie co-stars Chris Hemsworth and will be released in 2024.
Furiosa the movie Hemsworth is most proud of
Some fans have predicted that Hemsworth may be playing a younger version of Immortan Joe, the tyrant of Fury Road.
Even though the Australian is one of the most popular actors in the world largely due to his performances as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like Furiosa may mean more to him.
“This, I had read two years before I started shooting, and was in awe of the script,” said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
“It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve read, I love George Miller, but I didn’t know who this character was.
“In the build-up, and I’m talking a couple of years, I was scared out of my mind. I’m like, ‘I’m going to derail one of the most iconic franchises…’ I’m gonna bring down Mad Max. It’s gonna be my fault!
“I think the best experience in my career, and something I’m the most proud of too. I put more work into it than anything I’ve ever done, and the collaboration I had with George was just beautiful, and working with Anya was incredible.”
