The first trailer has been released for The End We Start From, starring Jodie Comer and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The survival thriller is based on the novel of the same name by Megan Hunter. It concerns a mother who attempts to find her way north with a newborn baby amid apocalyptic flooding in London.
Comer will play the mother, while other cast members include Cumberbatch, Mark Strong, Katherine Waterston, Joel Fry, Gina McKee and Nina Sosanya, with Mahalia Belo in the director's chair.
The actress previously said of her role:
"My character is ordinary and extraordinary, both her very personal life and the world around her have been turned upside down and she is dealing with the unknown at every turn. Her story is about the quiet heroics of determination, devotion, bravery and love."
Both Comer and Cumberbatch will act as executive producers. The latter's production company, SunnyMarch, is behind the movie which led to his involvement in front of the camera also.
Producers Leah Clarke, Liza Marshall and Adam Ackland have said of The End We Start From:
"Megan’s heart-wrenching novel, and Alice’s wonderful adaptation, present a story about motherhood, separation, social and environmental upheaval, and those primal instincts in us which draw moments of joy and inspiration out of the chaos.
"We are incredibly excited to have Mahalia and Jodie lead this talented creative team in making what we know will be a resonant, riveting film."
