'In a universe controlled by the corrupt government of the Mother World, the moon of Veldt is threatened by the forces of the Imperium, the army of the Mother World controlled by Regent Balisarius. Kora, a former member of the Imperium who seeks redemption for her past in the leadership of the oppressive government, tasks herself to recruit warriors from across the galaxy to make a stand against the Mother World's forces before they return to the planet.'
Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire was released in December, while the second movie, titled Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver will be released in April.
A Child of Fire currently has a 2.8 rating on MovieMeter and received harsher reviews in other quarters, which certainly had an impact on star Sofia Boutella.
A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by a tyrant-led army named Balisarius. The desperate citizens then call on a young woman with a mysterious past. She is given the task of looking for warriors from nearby plates who could help them against this threat.
“I always thought that I was fully armed to take on those punches, and then I read the critics that came down on Rebel Moon and it really affected me,” she told Vulture.
“I’m just gonna be honest about it. I feel like I’m carrying it for everybody that cared so much about this project, and that’s what affected me. Not the way I look. If anything, I’ve been pretty lucky and people like my work in it, but the movie was criticised.
“It really affected me for all of those who put so much heart, tears, and sweat in this project. It’s hard to see something being demolished to that extent. I’m proud to have been part of it, and if there is no more Rebel Moon, it will be a very important part of my life that I will defend forever.”
