Disney's current business plan includes producing numerous live-action remakes of beloved animated movies of the past.

Over the last few years, The Lion King, Aladdin Mulan, The Jungle Book, Pinocchio, Cruella, The Little Mermaid and Christopher Robin are just some of the live-action adaptations that have been released by the studio.

More are on the way, including a new Snow White picture, based on the 1937 classic of the same name. A bit of controversy surrounded the production this week when star Rachel Zegler said that the original was "extremely dated" and that the new movie wouldn't see Snow White having to rely on a prince to save her.

These comments riled fans of the classic, including the son of the original director David Hand, who suggested that his father and Walt Disney would be "turning in their graves" at the changes made to their film which included script and casting alterations.

"I mean, it's a whole different concept, and I just totally disagree with it, and I know my dad and Walt would also very much disagree with it," Hand told The Telegraph.

"I think it's pathetic that people feel that way... these are art forms in the world of film today.

"They change the stories, they change the thought processes of the characters, they just aren't the original stories anymore. They're making up new woke things and I'm just not into any of that. I find it quite frankly, a bit insulting that they may have done with some of these classic films.

"There's no respect for what Disney did and what my dad did... I think Walt and he would be turning in their graves."

There have been other controversies surrounding the casting of Snow White, particularly with regards to the Seven Dwarves from the original.

When actor Peter Dinklage spoke out against even remaking the movie, Disney responded by saying that the Seven Dwarves group would be changed. Now, there are numerous males and females of varying ethnicities portraying the Dwarves, with only one actor with Dwarfism gaining a role.

Dinklage's comments have received negative responses from other actors with dwarfism, many of whom believe they have lost out on a role in the movie.
