Over the years, the Fast franchise has accumulated a cast list for the ages.
The Fast and Furious originals like Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster have been joined by the likes of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Kurt Russell, Jason Momoa, John Cena and Jason Statham as well as Academy Award winners, Rita Moreno, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron and Brie Larson.
In Fast X, one of the secondary villains, Ames, is played by Reacher star Alan Ritchson.
However, it was very nearly none other than Keanu Reeves who was initially considered for the role.
"It was just a little stroke of luck and good timing," Ritchson told Entertainment Weekly.
"I was working on a movie with Hilary Swank up in Winnipeg in the freezing cold, and I got a call that things had shifted in the plans with Keanu Reeves, which is I think who was originally intended to play my part. Tough act to follow."
Ritchson recalled how he thought he actually lost the role after original director Justin Lin was replaced, only to be reassured by producer Jeff Kirschenbaum.
"I was like, 'Okay... am I still in the movie?' He was like, 'Yeah, of course. We're excited to work with you, but we've decided to go our separate ways with Justin.' I was like, 'Okay, you can just say that next time!'
"So I'm very grateful that it worked out."
Reeves in Fast X
Reeves is one of the most popular action stars in the world following his performances in movies like Speed, The Matrix and John Wick.
The Fast franchise has attempted to recruit him on a number of occasions, so don't be surprised if he pops up in Fast 11 or Fast 12.
