There are five major cinema releases in U.S. theaters this week, and we have all the details for you.
2023 was a massive year for cinema, with the summer period flourishing thanks to the releases of Barbie and Oppenheimer. The movies were released around the same time and many theater-goers actually did the double-feature, which was affectionately named 'Barbenheimer'.

Monkey Man is a new action thriller written and directed by Dev Patel.
Official premise:
'A young man ekes out a meagre living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he's beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, he discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city's sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.'
Monkey Man cast: Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sikandar Kher, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, and Makarand Deshpande.
In 2016 it was announced that a new entry in The Omen franchise would be made, with Ben Jacoby writing the script. Though the story is based on Jacoby's ideas, the screenplay itself was subsequently written by Tim Smith, Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas, with Stevenson also directing.

Femme - 5 April, 2024
Femme is the feature film debut from writers/directors Sam H. Freeman and Ng Choon Ping. Is is an extended adaptation of their BAFTA-nominated short film of the same name and premiered at the Berlin Film Festival to critical acclaim back in February.
Official premise:
'Jules is targeted in a horrific homophobic attack, destroying his life and career. Some time after that event he encounters Preston, one of his attackers, in a gay sauna. He wants revenge.'
Femme cast: Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, George Mackay, Aaron Heffernan, John McCrea, Asha Reid, Peter Clements, Antonia Clarke, and Moe Bar-El.
Wicked Little Letters is a black comedy mystery film directed by Thea Sharrock and written by Jonny Sweet that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Official premise:
'Based on a true scandal that stunned 1920s England, the story centres on neighbours Edith Swan and Rose Gooding in the seaside town of Littlehampton. One day, a series of obscene letters begin to target Edith and others, with suspicion falling upon Rose. As the outrageous letters continue to escalate, Rose risks losing both her freedom and custody of her daughter. Police Officer Gladys Moss is determined to find the real culprit, and along with a group of other women, seeks to solve this perplexing mystery.'

Dogman is a French drama thriller film written and directed by Luc Besson
Official premise:
'Doug is arrested in New Jersey while driving a truck full of dogs. Evelyn, a psychiatrist, is sent to the police station to interrogate him. Through flashbacks he tells the story of his life. First, as a child victim of his father's violence to the point of having lost the use of his legs; his brief time in a juvenile institution where he falls in love with his theatre teacher, Salma, who introduces Shakespeare to him (he later states that he knows all the playwright's plays by heart); then as the master of numerous dogs helping him steal jewellery and precious objects as well as protect people in need. Doug also reveals he has performed weekly as drag queen in a cabaret act.'
