Margot Robbie could be set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe after reports emerged that she has already been offered a major role in the MCU.
The Oscar-nominated actress has already played a comic book character in her career as she has featured as Harley Quinn in a number of DC Comics projects including The Suicide Squad.
Now that the Fantastic Four are set to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the casting rumour mill has went into overdrive, particularly with regards to who will play Mr Fantastic and Sue Storm.
John Krasinski made a cameo as Richards in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but it is clear now that this was a one-time gig. Numerous actors have been linked with Richards, including Glenn Howerton, Adam Driver, Timothee Chalamet, Penn Badgley, Andrew Lincoln, Diego Luna and Tom Ellis.
Driver has reportedly been offered the role, and featuring alongside him as Sue Storm could be Robbie, according to Daniel Richtman of The Direct.
There have been three Fantastic Four movies over the last 20 years - Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and the Fantastic Four reboot in 2015.
None of them are viewed with much love from fans of the comic book series, while the 2015 reboot was a major flop.
Fantastic Four in the MCU
In 2019, the rights for Fantastic Four were transferred from Fox to Disney, which led to speculation that the group will soon feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside the likes of the X-Men and Deadpool.
Jon Watts was initially announced as director, but soon stepped away from the chair after expressing a desire to leave superhero movies for a while after working on Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy.
The new Fantastic Four will be released in February of 2025 as the first movie of the MCU's Phase Six. It will be directed by Matt Shackman.
