Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez believes Jason Momoa's new character is the greatest villain in the franchise's history.
The series has become a box office juggernaut over the last few years after a shift was made to heist movies from the previous focus on street racing. To date, it has grossed an astonishing $6 billion across nine films.
Fast Five started that shift, and Fast X will undoubtedly lead on from the events of that movie, judging from the trailer.
Momoa apparently plays the son of the primary villain of Fast Five, Hernan Reyes, who was killed in that movie following a bank robbery by Dominic Toretto and his team. In Fast and Furious 10, he will feature as Dante Reyes, who is targeting Dom and his extended family.
The actor previously said of Dante:
"I get to be the bad guy finally. I’ve been the good guy for a while. He’s very sadistic and androgynous and he’s a bit of a peacock. He’s got a lot of issues, this guy. He’s definitely got some daddy issues.”
Now, we know that these issues directly relate to the death of his father in Fast Five.
Rodriguez believes Dante is the best Fast villain ever after Charlize Theron's Cypher.
“Revenge with a smirk," she told Collider when asked about what we can expect from Dante.
It sounds light, but when you see , you’ll know exactly what I'm talking about. I'd say he's the best male villain we've had in the entire franchise, of course because Charlize kills it. You know what I mean? She’s a whole other different type of monster, no pun intended.”
Fast X is set for release in May of 2023 and stars Vin Diesel, Momoa, Jason Statham, Rodriguez, Brie Larson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Cardi B, Rita Moreno, and Theron.
