One of the producers of the new live-action remake of Hercules has revealed that the movie will take inspiration from TikTok with regards to its musical numbers.
Over the last few years, Disney has remade a string of beloved animated classics into 'live-action' features, including The Jungle Book, The Lion King, Cinderella and Pinocchio.
Upcoming projects include Peter Pan & Wendy, Snow White, Hunchback, The Sword in the Stone and The Little Mermaid.
Hercules already has its director in the form of Guy Ritchie, who helmed the Aladdin remake.
Joe Russo, one of the directors behind Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, is a producer on Hercules and has provided some extra details on the remake.
“There are questions about how you translate it as a musical,” Russo told Variety.
“Audiences today have been trained by TikTok, right? What is their expectation of what that musical looks like and feels like? That can be a lot of fun and help us push the boundaries a little bit on how you execute a modern musical.
“I think they are excited to see what we can all bring to it in a way that isn’t just a reinterpretation of the animated film."
The original Hercules had an impressive voice cast including Tate Donovan, Danny DeVito, James Woods, Susan Egan, Wayne Knight and Rip Torn.
No casting details have been announced for the remake as of yet.
