'Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally the Guardians of the Galaxy on a mission to defend the universe and protect one of their own'.
The last time we saw the Guardians of the Galaxy was in Thor: Love and Thunder, but it was nothing more than a short cameo from Starlord, Nebula, Drax, Rocket, Groot and Mantis.
The primary plot of Volume 3 will surround Peter's attempts to reunite with the alternate version of Gamora that he met at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame.
There will also be a new villain in the form of Adam Warlock, played by Will Poulter.
The appearance of Warlock was teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 when the villainous Ayesha said she had created a being named 'Adam' to defeat the Guardians.
Poulter allegedly beat off competition from Bridgerton's Rege-Jean Page and 1917's George MacKay to land the role of Warlock, but he didn't know that at the time.
“I first auditioned in June of last year , and that was the first time I auditioned, and then I kind of got the role in September, I think,” he told the Playlist.
“And then started shooting in December…I didn’t know what character, initially, I was auditioning for. I kind of knew sort of closer to the time who I was reading for.
"Although I wasn’t familiar with Adam Warlock beforehand, I was very familiar with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ and it was kind of my favorite ‘planet’ within the Marvel universe, if you like.
"I’m just a huge fan of the tone and the creativity and James Gunn’s work and so many of the actors, you know, that I now get to call colleagues, which I’m very grateful for. So yeah, to have any kind of part in that world is very, very cool for me.”
