Paul Rudd was delighted to get behind the wheel of the famous Ecto-1 car for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, but was worried he might crash it!
The official synopsis of the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel reads:
'In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family decide to leave Summerville, Oklahoma and go back to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – and help the original Ghostbusters, who've developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level! But when the discovery of an ancient artefact unleashes a mysterious and evil force, known as the Death Chill, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a deadly and unpredictable fate that unknowingly, could affect Earth’s history with a second Ice Age.'
It stars Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O'Connor, Logan Kim, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, William Atherton, Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt.
For Frozen Empire, the story returns to New York City, where the first two movies took place. It required Rudd to get behind the wheel of the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Sentinel.
"To be in a Ghostbusters flight suit and driving the Ecto-1 was a real kick," Rudd told TotalFilm. "You know, there aren’t many of those vehicles around. It isn’t like they built them new for this movie. It’s pretty crazy to think, 'This is the Ecto-1 from the original Ghostbusters and I get to drive it.'
"You’re thinking, 'Holy shit.' You’re thinking, 'Wait, I’m actually driving the Ecto-1. This is the coolest thing ever.' But then you’re thinking, 'Don’t crash.' You feel the weight of that thing, both literally and metaphorically, so it’s exciting and interesting."
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will be released on 22 March, 2024.
