Fast X allegedly has plenty of clues for what we can expect in the next movie in the Fast and Furious franchise.
Though Fast X received mixed reviews from critics, it was another money-maker for Universal as it earned $719 million at the box office.
At the conclusion of the movie, the fate of Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), his son and his team is unknown after an attack from Dante Reyes, played to acclaim by Jason Momoa.
Near the beginning of the film, Toretto comes face-to-face with Cipher (Charlize Theron) and the pair have a conversation in his house. During the conversation, she says:
"There's a war is coming, sides are being chosen, and everyone you love will be destroyed."
According to director Louis Leterrier, this particular conversation is important when looking forward to Fast XI, which may mean more of Dom's loved ones being put in real danger.
"Listen to what is said, listen to the dialogue," Leterrier told CinemaBlend.
"I think people enjoy the visuals, and the flare, and the fun, and everything. But there are some scenes that are designed where the conversations, the threats are real. When something sticks out, it’s for a reason. I’m not talking about one scene in particular, there’s like five scenes where we laid out the seeds to our great, next part of this adventure.
"Let’s start with the beginning. The moment where Cipher enters Dom and Letty’s house. Whatever she says will inform everything."
MORE Fast and Furious spin-offs are coming
Diesel has promised that more Fast and Furious spin-off movies are in the works.
The Fast franchise has become one of the most profitable in history, particularly after Fast Five, when the movies moved over from the street racing plot point to heist capers.
Ten movies have been produced so far, with Fast X being released in 2023. There has also been one successful spin-off, Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, which was a financial success and also proved popular with fans.
It focused on the characters of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, played by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Jason Statham respectively, two men who were at once major villains in the Fast franchise but who turned.
Diesel says that a female-driven Fast movie is in the works, though all the spin-offs might have to wait until the conclusion of the main franchise storyline.
"I started developing the female spin-off in 2017 along with other spin-offs, and the sooner I deliver the final, the sooner I can launch all the spin-offs," Diesel told Variety.
"Fast X is the first of a two-part ending, but it's still bittersweet thinking about the finale."
