Should a sequel to The Flash be produced, Ezra Miller will return to play the title role, according to the first movie's director Andy Muschietti.
The Flash is part of the DC extended universe and was the first standalone outing for the character, who had previously appeared in movies like The Justice League.
Due to the separate timelines and universes that featured in the movie, we saw two versions of Batman, played by Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck respectively, while Michael Shannon appeared as General Zod.
There was increased media interest in the movie not just due to the movie itself, but in Miller, who has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons in the past year. They have been accused of grooming an underage girl, while they have been charged with assault on a couple of occasions.
Things have calmed down on that front recently, and Muschietto says Miller will return if a sequel to The Flash is made.
"If happens, yes," the director told The Discourse when asked if Miller would feature.
“I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys — it feels like a character that was made for them.”
Michael Shannon has sympathy for Miller
Miller's co-star Shannon admits that he feels sympathy for them due to the legal troubles being under the public microscope.
"I thought Ezra was lovely — very kind to me when I was there," Shannon told Vanity Fair.
"It’s difficult to talk about, but I always give people a lot of slack in this business, because there’s a lot of people in this business that have issues. And some people have more privacy than others.
"Any time somebody is out in the spotlight getting picked on, I feel for them. Even if it’s warranted, it’s still a horrible situation.”
