Fans of Harrison Ford can breathe a sigh of relief after the legendary actor confirmed that he has no plans to retire despite his advancing years and his last outing as Indiana Jones.
Ford is one of the most iconic actors of all time and has played numerous memorable roles, with Indiana Jones, Han Solo in Star Wars and Rick Deckard in Blade Runner being the stand-outs.
He most recently appeared in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny which will be his final outing as the whip-wielding hero. At 80 years old, he could be forgiven for winding down his career, but that won't be happening, according to the man himself.
“I don’t do well when I don’t have work," he told CNN.
"I love to work… I love to feel useful. I want to be helpful. It is the people that you get to work with. The intensity and the intimacy of collaboration… it’s the combined ambition, somehow forged from words on a page.
"I don’t plan what I want to do in a scene and I don’t feel obliged to do anything but I am naturally affected by the things that I work on.”
Ford is currently working on Captain America: Brave New World in which he will play the President of the United States, Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross. He recently confirmed that he would be taking a break after filming that movie for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
An Indiana Jones reboot doesn't require Ford's blessing
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the final movie in the series, will be released at the end of June. Naturally, there has been speculation about the future of the franchise as Ford has confirmed he won't play the character again.
Reboots, remakes and spin-offs have been mentioned, though nothing concrete.
Even though he has major input in Indiana Jones alongside Goerge Lucas and Steven Spielberg, Ford won't stand in the way of the next generation.
“They don’t need my blessing," he told the PA News Agency.
“If they want to do that they do that."
The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles was a spin-off series that aired for two seasons in the early 1990s.
