Christopher Nolan could direct a Bond movie...as a period piece

For James Bond fans, one of the dream director choices for nearly 20 years has been Christopher Nolan.

The acclaimed director has helmed some of the biggest movies of the century including the Dark Knight series, Inception, Interstellar and Oppenheimer.

He has long been linked with potentially helming a Bond movie, and it appears he would consider working on that franchise if the circumstances were right.

"The influence of those movies in my filmography is embarrassingly apparent. It would be an amazing privilege to do one,” Nolan previously said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

"At the same time, when you take on a character like that you’re working with a particular set of constraints.

"It has to be the right moment in your creative life where you can express what you want to express and really burrow into something within the appropriate constraints because you would never want to take on something like that and do it wrong."

According to World of Reel, Nolan is reportedly in talks with Bond Producers Barbara Broccoli And Michael G. Wilson over potentially helming the next "two or three" movies in the franchise.

The reports suggest that Nolan will only consider directing a Bond movie if he is given significant creative control.

And, should he be given the job, he will adapt Ian Fleming's early novels and treat the movie as a period piece set in the 1950s or 1960s.

Who will be the next James Bond?

The next James Bond movie will once again be a franchise reboot, with a new actor stepping into the role as 007.

Even before Daniel Craig departed, there was speculation as to who would replace him as the most famous movie spy of all time. Names like Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and Aaron-Taylor Johnson were favourites at different points both before and after the production of No Time to Die.

At the moment, however, a new favourite has emerged in the form of Damson Idris, who is most famed for his role in the critically acclaimed drama series, Snowfall.

According to OddsChecker, he is the 5/2 favourite to be cast as Bond.

In second is Taylor Johnson (3-1), while Cavill (4-1) and James Norton (9/2) are third and fourth in the betting, respectively.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Taylor-Johnson was the favourite of Bond producers and that he had even donned the tuxedo to film his version of the iconic gun barrel sequence.
