Chris Evans admits that Ghosted 'could have been better'.
The 2023 action comedy starred Evans alongside Ana de Armas. The official premise reads:
'Cole (Evans) falls head over heels for enigmatic Sadie (De Armas), but then makes the shocking discovery that she's a secret agent. Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world.'
It received mostly negative reviews from critics and currently holds a 2.64 community rating on MovieMeter.
One critic for The Guardian labelled the movie film "a staggeringly, maddeningly atrocious heap of increasingly boneheaded decisions that will act as depressing documentation of just how rotten things got in the current oversaturated streaming landscape."
Despite Evans and De Armas's on-screen chemistry being evident in Knives Out, a lot of the negative reviews said it was missing in Ghosted.
Chris Evans reacts to Ghosted critics
Evans has listened to the audience.
"Ghosted to me felt like a movie that I grew up on, a movie that maybe we don’t see very much anymore." the Captain America star told GQ.
"And the question is whether or not audiences have outgrown those types of films? ... I didn’t think audiences had outgrown it prior, and I still don’t think they have, despite the fact, I mean, technically I think we did okay on, in terms of viewership.
"Critics didn’t like it. But that’s more the fault of the movie as opposed to the appetite of the audience. I think the appetite’s there, if it’s done properly. We could have been better."
