Netflix has provided the first view of Back in Action, Cameron Diaz's first movie in a decade alongside Jamie Foxx.
The actress hasn't appeared in a movie since Annie in 2014 and subsequently went into semi-retirement in order to raise her child.
Diaz was convinced to come out of her retirement by Foxx, who announced her involvement with Back in Action via a Tweet. Foxx put Diaz in touch with Tom Brady, the legendary NFL star who himself came out of retirement in 2022
The official premise for Back in Action reads:
'Years after giving up life in the CIA to start a family, these former spies are dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown.'
It stars Diaz, Foxx, Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson.
Back in Action will be produced for Netflix and will be directed by Horrible Bosses helmer Seth Gordon. Production has been delayed for a number of reasons including the strikes and a major health scare for Foxx, though there were also rumours about his poor behaviour on set.
Sources said Foxx was "crazy" and made "everything miserable" but he has been defended by Diaz, who categorically denies these rumours.
“I really hate all of the things that were being said about our set at the time,” she said on Molly Sims’ Lipstick on the Rim podcast. “You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?'
"Jamie is, like, the cheerleader for the entire crew. Everybody loves him. We have so much fun on the set with him, and he's just a professional on every level."

Cameron Diaz defends Jamie Foxx
Diaz continued:
"Jamie is the best. I love that guy so much. He's such a special person and he's so talented, so much fun. The hiccups that happened throughout production are the natural kinds of things that happen, but nothing got delayed other than, obviously, toward the end. And that's something that is not my place to speak about.
"When I see and hear people trying to take another person down like that... (Jamie is) so classy. He's like, 'Nope. Just let them (talk)'
"Still, it just really made me angry."
In November of 2023, Foxx was sued by a woman who accused him of sexual assault in 2015.
