Lord of Tears plot

James Findlay is a high school teacher. He sheds few tears when he learns that his mother has died. The two had been estranged for years. He inherits the family estate in Baldurrock, a remote area in the north of Scotland. The notary delivers him a letter from his mother. She begs him to sell the domain and not return to Baldurrock. Due to a traumatic event during his childhood, his mother sent him away to be raised elsewhere. The letter brings back repressed memories.
