George Kellerman (Jack Lemmon) flies to New York for a job interview about the job of his life and immediately ends up with a cozy outing with his wife Gwen (Sandy Dennis). Unfortunately, the plane's delay is just the first in an impossibly long series of setbacks. But, assisted by his docile wife, he is determined to complete his odyssey toward his dream job: George Kellerman and New York are now involved!
