Down Came a Blackbird plot

"They took her lover. They took her dignity... and every dream takes her back."

During a report in Central America, the journalists Helen McNulty and her friend/photographer Jan witness a demonstration against the regime ruling there, which is ended bloodily by the military. Back in the US, Helen decides to do a report on the victims of torture. As her report progresses, and she becomes acquainted with the mysterious Tomas Ramirez with a mysterious war past, Helen turns more and more into a victim when it turns out that she too is being tortured and killed by the military.
