Magic in the Moonlight plot
1928. The South of France. Master illusionist Stanley Crawford (Colin Firth) has been tasked with investigating a fraud case. It is about a young lady named Sophie Baker who claims to be a spiritual medium (Emma Stone). She is hired by the wealthy Catledge family: mother Grace and son Brice are both impressed by Sophie and her special talent and expect that she can bring them in contact with their deceased husband and father. From the moment Stanley meets the charming medium, he is convinced she is a con artist and attributes everything to the family's gullibility. But when Sophie gives some extraordinary demonstrations of her clairvoyance, he can't help but surrender to this world of unexplained events.

Incredibly boring story that rattles on all sides. Plus the concept of (very) young woman with old man bothers me. Especially in combination with Woody Allen.

Finely funny, romantic comedy in which the dialogues are very important and in which Colin Firth once again demonstrates his class in this area.
Maybe Woody Allen doesn't put down those masterpieces from back then (although), this "Magic in the Moonlight" could still appeal, because besides the quoted dialogue, it still has a charming atmosphere and the intrigue itself was really funny, life theories included.
As always, Woody Allen's soundtrack is to my liking.
