Very good film about marriage, relationships and the morals surrounding them. Simple to very concrete dialogues. Nice acting performance. Fascinated watching to the end.

Another one of the better Rohmer's. In itself yes - but most of his films are - a recognizable fact of a kind of duality of a character with regard to the opposite sex, a relationship, a friendship. Thoughts and feelings are expressed through a voice-over with a slightly moral philosophical touch.

Although I found the film to collapse a bit after the rapprochement between Frédéric and Chloé, I found the run-up to be particularly strong. Not that much happens, but you observe a toothless hunter observing its prey, but refusing to claw. A nice scene when Rohmer briefly put in the opposite.

Nice setting also of Paris in the 1960s with all its passers-by and as Frédéric puts it nicely with passers-by who appear by chance and who you may never see again. Rohmer expresses Fréderic's doubt and reticence well (scene with the mirror and the sweater).
